The “Circular Carbon Technologies” working group pursues different recycling paths in chemical recycling, which lead to products of varying complexity. Processes such as solvolysis, pyrolysis and gasification are used for this purpose. They are also suitable as a supplement to mechanical processes, as non-recycled or recyclable plastic waste (e.g. mixed or contaminated plastics) has so far only been used for energy recovery (incineration). In addition, chemical recycling also has the potential to recycle heavily contaminated and problematic plastic waste such as composite materials and to remove harmful substances.
Services offered
- Development of processes for converting carbon-containing input materials into valuable products (basic chemicals, synthesis gas)
- Breaking down plastic polymers into their monomers or chemical building blocks or basic chemicals (depolymerization using chemical or thermochemical processes)
- Recycling of heavily contaminated and problematic plastic waste (composite materials) and separation of harmful substances
