Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften Jena

The supply of clean water is one of the greatest social challenges of the future. New alliances between research, industry, the public sector and civil society are needed to avoid water scarcity and the associated potential for social conflict. Technological innovations such as new methods of water treatment or smart water monitoring are just as much in demand as social innovations.

The Thuringian Water Innovation Cluster ThWIC, the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems IKTS and Sensor Space, a STEM lab for children, are bringing cutting-edge water research projects to the Long Night of the Sciences in Jena. At the joint stand, the researchers will present innovative materials, technologies and systems for a more sustainable use of water.

Put on VR glasses and become a waterworks employee. Program your own intelligent flowerpot. PFAS, microplastics, drug residues – find out more about innovative methods of water treatment. Learn about water cycles in a network game. Bring your own water sample and analyze it on site.
