The market for ceramic components is characterized by a multitude of special applications particularly in smaller and medium quantities. Due to the higher price level, ceramics, in contrast to metal or polymer components, are primarily used there where their unique features like e.g. high temperature, wear or chemical resistance are required. Availability and standardization of ceramic materials cannot be compared to other material classes. Properties such as the sensitivity to tensile stress or the significant smaller thermal expansion coefficients require special know-how concerning the successful integration in customer systems.
