Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems IKTSElectronic circuits are modules, which are divided into two main groups: passive elements and active elements (mostly semiconductors). The passive components include resistors, capacitors and inductors. The monolithic integration of passive components in LTCC ceramics brings several advantages:
- Miniaturization and increased packing density (space for the placement of components on the substrate surface is saved),
- Increased robustness, due to the relocation of sensitive passive components from the substrate surface into the monolithic ceramic and
- Realization of power electronic circuits with integrated conductors having high cross sections and therefore low resistances and optimum cooling through all-round contact with thermally conductive ceramic.
