In the Business Division Bio- and Medical Technology, Fraunhofer IKTS contributes its knowledge of structure-property relationships and extensive equipment for multiscale analysis and characterization. For the biophysical characterization on nano-, micro- and macro-level, the institute has a unique infrastructure of high-resolution electron, ion and X-ray microscopy at its disposal in order to offer partners in industry and research competent consultation, contract analysis and methodological developments.

One focus is on the in-situ investigation of interfacial phenomena using specially developed methods and equipment. By using AI-supported evaluation, Fraunhofer IKTS can process and evaluate even the largest amounts of data. Synthetically produced training data allows the (further) development of models and the provision of complex workflows for automated characterization and analysis.
