Environmental testing technology

Topic

The loads that occur, such as thermal, thermomechanical, salt spray, UV or other media loads, have a major influence on the service life of electronic circuits. The validation of the reliability optimizations generated by material characterization and FEM simulation is therefore part of completing the reliability design. To achieve this in a short time, various accelerated ageing scenarios are applied, considering the chemical and physical effects.

Fraunhofer IKTS therefore has a comprehensive range of environmental tests available.

  • Thermally superimposed vibration tests
  • Thermal cycling and thermal shock testing with optional in-situ measurement of forces and deformations
  • High and low temperature fatigue testing
  • Moisture/heat aging with optional in-situ SIR measurement
  • Pressure chamber for seawater-equivalent loads
  • Salt spray system
  • UV weathering chamber

Climatic chamber for customized tests on printed circuit boards or sensor elements.

Individual temperature and, if necessary, humidity profiles can be programmed for some of the devices listed below. Furthermore, extensive L/C/R in-situ measurements can be carried out during removal from storage if required. This means, for example, that customized SIR tests can also be carried out on printed circuit boards or sensor elements.
